What
We Do

Every year, over 1 billion tons of food is wasted, juxtaposed with a stark reality where approximately 800 million people lack access to sufficient and nutritious food (Global FoodBanking Network, 2014). This equates to roughly one third of the food produced for human consumption. The wastage occurs at various stages in the supply chain, from initial agricultural production to the final consumption in households (FAO, 2011).

In Ghana, 9.3 million people, with 45% residing in Accra, struggle to afford more than $0.81 on food daily. The Cost of Hunger report by the National Development Planning Commission in 2016 estimates that Ghana incurs a substantial loss of GH¢ 4.6 billion, equivalent to 6.4% of GDP. This loss coincides with a scenario where 45% of food is wasted along the food supply chain, and 24% of all child mortality cases in Ghana are linked to undernutrition.
At Food for All Africa, we the make sure that the food we recover and distribute is nutritious enough for consumption.

We don’t stop here. We go beyond providing food. With the help of our partners, we also develop programs aimed at empowering individuals in Ghana, especially the poor, with vocational skills that serve as a stepping stone to self-sufficiency. We consider this a major step in our quest to provide employment to many and ultimately, reduce poverty in Ghana, which is one of our main pillars.
